Before you start exploring our guide, keep in mind that Tuvalu is a very remote place, which means the food quality might not be what you’re used to in your country. Don’t expect luxury or elaborate dishes. Local shops sell only basic food ingredients, and more ‘sophisticated’ products can be quite expensive, as almost all items are imported. However, you will still find plenty of places to eat, from breakfast to dinner, as well as options for special events. This guide is made for Fongafale, the main island of Funafuti.

Travel Guides Genius Insiders Tips
Always ask for the locals if there is any special event, ceremony or party as this happens almost every week (if not every day). This will be your best opportunity to enjoy local and fresh food (buffet style!). Note that all the restaurants & shops are closed on Sundays!
